About Me

My name is Tom Fasano.
I was born in Virginia and now live in Claremont, California.
I teach English at Sonora High School in La Habra. I’ve been a teacher in the Fullerton Joint Union High School District for ten years after spending fifteen years working in the corporate world. I graduated from Florida Southern College with an eye towards being a school teacher. But life happened instead, and like the narrator in Robert Frost’s poem, I took the road less traveled, which has made all the difference.
In addition to writing this blog, I also have another blog called Classical Guy, in which I wax poetic about classical music — a lifelong passion of mine. I also write books about how to teach English. My hope with my writing is that I might make a difference in the lives of other teachers, especially those new to the profession. My current books include A Concise Guide to MLA Style and Documentation and an upcoming title, A Thousand Words, scheduled for publication in September 2010.
I am amazed and inspired on a daily basis by the educators I work with. Their commitment, passion, creativity is . . . astonishing. I will focus much of the dialogue in this blog (and blogs are indeed dialogues) on education.
