About Me
Here I am at my lectern.
My name is Tom Fasano.
I was born in Virginia and now teach high school English in California. I have traveled and worked throughout the U.S., mostly as part of my job assignments from my former employer, Verizon. My years of working outside of education shaped my thinking profoundly.
I graduated from Florida Southern College and worked a variety of jobs before settling into the corporate lifestyle. In 1996 I decided I wanted to teach and went back to school at Cal State Long Beach, close to where I was living at the time. I finally did become that teacher I wanted to be and have never looked back.
I am often amazed and inspired by the educators I work with, all of whom seem so confident and good at what they do. Their passion and commitment is an inspiration.
The focus of this blog is developing insight into what I learn daily and the possibilities flowing around me; connecting students to concepts; finding relevancy in what i have kids do; and then communicating that in a compelling way to create a dialogue.
